Lagos Life Gamethe unofficial player's guide

The Lagos Life game is a free, Sims-style life sim set in Lagos that runs in your browser, and you share the city with thousands of real players. Rent a room, chase a promotion, chop amala at Shitta, dance at Quilox — and pray you still have rent money when Saturday comes.

What is the Lagos Life game?

The Lagos Life game is a multiplayer life simulation made by Nigerian developer Shalom Rayhamen (studio name Eliy). Think The Sims, but instead of a quiet suburb you get danfo buses, NEPA taking the light, a landlord who knows exactly what day it is, and a city full of other people living their own stories at the same time as you. The developer first introduced it as Lagos Life Sims, which is why plenty of people search for “Lagos Sims” too. Same game, same city.

Where the idea came from

The idea came from two places. Shalom grew up playing The Sims 3 and wondered what Sims would look like in a world that felt like home. Then Lagos Run — a viral browser game by the developer Eureka where you drive a danfo through Lagos traffic — lit the match. Lagos Life went live in early October 2026 and spread across Nigerian X and TikTok faster than gist about a celebrity wedding.

Do you need to download anything?

No, there's nothing to install. You open lagoslife.app, make an account and you're in. It works on phones and laptops, it's free, and it's for players aged 18 and over. You can buy extra in-game naira with real money if you're impatient, but you can't cash it back out — think of it as buying fun, not investing. Want the full backstory? How to start playing Lagos Life (the two-minute version)

  1. Open lagoslife.app in Chrome or Safari. If you tapped a link inside TikTok, Instagram or X, switch to a real browser first — in-app browsers are where most “it won't load” stories begin. iPhones need iOS 16.4 or newer.
  2. Sign up for free and build your Lagosian: look, personality and a dream to chase.
  3. Survive the birth lottery. It decides whether your story starts in Lekki or Mushin (more on that below).
  4. Get a job from your in-game phone, keep your six needs topped up and pay rent every Saturday. That's the whole Lagos Life game loop; everything else builds on it.

Want it on your home screen like a normal app, or stuck on a loading screen? The play and login guide covers both. For a deeper walkthrough of every system, read how to play Lagos Life.

The birth lottery: Nepo Baby, LAPO Baby or UNILAG Fresher

Here's where the Lagos Life game gets uncomfortably honest about real life: you don't choose how you start. The server rolls the dice, and there is no reroll button. (We checked. Everyone checks.)

A Nepo Baby lands in a Lekki flat with Daddy's Prado, ₦500,000 pocket money and a branch manager job. A LAPO Baby gets a microfinance loan, a cheap room and a weekly repayment. A UNILAG Fresher gets a hall bed, a tiny allowance and a degree that pays off later.

Which start is best?

Nepo Baby has the easiest first week by a mile — about ₦157,500 from five shifts with no rent or loan to pay. But LAPO Babies and freshers learn every skill 25% faster, and skills are what unlock promotions. Play the long game and the gap closes quicker than you'd think. The Nepo vs LAPO Baby guide has the full numbers and a game plan for each start.

Your first week in Lagos Life Sims, stop by stop

Most new players don't go broke because the game is hard. They go broke because they discovered Quilox on day two. Here's the route we'd take through week one as a LAPO Baby in Mushin, where the bills come to ₦14,400 a week: ₦2,400 rent plus a ₦12,000 loan repayment.

  1. First day

    Apply for a job

Banking pays ₦11,600 a shift at level 1 with no skill needed.

  2. Day 2

    Finish the shift

Leaving early cuts your pay. Win 4 tasks in a shift for a 15% bonus.

  3. Day 3

    Train one skill

Pick the skill your career uses. Promotions depend on it, not on vibes.

  4. Day 4

    Do a side gig

Carry load at Balogun (₦2,250) or help at the buka. No skills required.

  5. Day 5

    Eat cheap

Amala Shitta fixes hunger from ₦100.

  6. Friday night

    Ring-fence rent

Put rent and the loan repayment aside before anything fun.

  7. Saturday

    Rent day

Rent leaves in the morning. Short? It becomes debt, and Baba Landlord visits.

Survive that and week two gets much easier: you'll have a salary, a skill on the rise and a little cash for your first gig upgrade. The beginner guide has a version of this plan for every start, including Nepo Babies who are tempted to spend ₦500,000 in one weekend.

Lagos Life game jobs that pay the most

There are 21 careers in the Lagos Life game. Each one has five levels, uses one skill and is based at a real-feeling workplace on the map. Level 5 pays many times what level 1 does, so the smart question isn't “which job pays most today?” but “which one can I climb fastest?” Here are the biggest weekly paychecks at the top level:

Lagos Life careers with the highest weekly pay at level 5
CareerSkillWorkplaceLevel 5, per week
Real EstateCharismaIkoyi Golf Club₦528,000
BroadcastingComedyNaija Radio House₦504,000
MusicMusicNew Afrika Shrine₦495,000
AviationFitnessEko Hotels & Suites₦475,000
Product ManagementCharismaCcHub₦460,000
Content CreatorCharismaLekki Conservation Centre₦450,000

What the pay table doesn't tell you

Music tops out as Afrobeats Giant, the best-paid single shift in the game at ₦99,000. DJ only works four short night shifts, which leaves your days free for gigs. Real Estate wins on weekly totals because it runs six shifts a week. And mid-level careers like Medicine, Aviation and Product Management won't even look at your application until the matching skill reaches level 3. The money ladder: from recharge kiosk to Quilox shares

A salary keeps you alive. Assets make you rich. Once rent is safe, almost every serious player climbs the same ladder, one rung at a time. Each business pays out at 6 PM every evening, after running costs:

  1. ₦0Side gigsHelp at the buka, carry load, WhatsApp hustle. Skilled gigs like a piano recital pay far more later.
  2. ₦150kRecharge & Data KioskPays for itself in about 97 payouts.
  3. ₦500kPOS StandPays for itself in about 97 payouts.
  4. ₦2.5MBuka (Mama Put)Pays for itself in about 110 payouts.
  5. ₦15MCar WashPays for itself in about 131 payouts.
  6. ₦60MEvent CentrePays for itself in about 162 payouts.
  7. ₦250MQuilox Share (5%)Pays for itself in about 189 payouts.
A player climbing a staircase of stacked naira past a recharge kiosk, POS stand, amala buka, car wash and event centre up to a nightclub
Every rung costs more, and pays more. It also takes longer to earn back.

The catch: bigger businesses pay back slower

A Quilox Share (5%) can make up to ₦2.4M on a good day, yet it still needs around 189 payouts to earn back its price. Every business also has bad days that lose money, so never buy one with your last kobo.

Land: the slow, risky alternative

Plots from Imota to Banana Island grow in value every week, but the cheap ones come with a real chance of omo-onile turning up for their cut. The make money guide runs the numbers on every rung, plus the governor election and the daily Gem Hunt.

The Lagos Life game map has 28 places and roughly 244 things to do in them, from charity at Lagos Central Mosque to activities at Ikoyi Golf Club that cost up to ₦1B. These are the ones new players should know first:

  • Amala Shitta · Surulere

The cheapest proper meal in the city, and a no-skill buka gig.

  • Balogun Market · Lagos Island

Carry loads or flip goods for quick cash from day one.

  • UNILAG · Yaba

33 activities, more than anywhere else on the map.

  • Elegushi Beach · Lekki

Cheap fun until 4 AM, and paid photoshoots once your Photography hits 4.

  • Quilox · Victoria Island

DJs, dance battles and 16 activities. Opens at 10 PM; your budget closes soon after.

  • Polling Unit 001 · Lagos Island

Vote or run in the weekly governor election. Winners collect ₦25,000 a day.

Seven rookie mistakes that make Baba Landlord very happy

  • Partying with rent money. Quilox will still be there next week. Your room might not be.
  • Treating Eko Casino as a salary. It's open 24 hours because the house never gets tired of winning.
  • Leaving shifts early. Half a shift is not half the pay; it's less.
  • Ignoring your needs. Hunger, energy, hygiene, bladder, fun and social all drag your mood and work down when they run low. Yes, hygiene counts.
  • Buying a business with your last naira. Bad days happen, and selling only returns 60% of what you paid.
  • Sending money carelessly. Transfers between players cost 5% (minimum ₦50), and nobody in chat can “double” your naira.
  • Downloading a “Lagos Life APK”. There isn't one. More on that next.

Is the Lagos Life game safe and legit?

The game itself is legit: it's made by a named developer, it's free, and it lives at lagoslife.app. The older address, lagoslife.eliysites.com, loads the same city. The risks are around the game, not in it:

There is no official app download

There is no APK, Play Store or App Store version. To get an icon on your phone, add the website to your home screen instead.

Crypto coins are not the game

Tokens with “Lagos Life” in the name have been hyped on X and TikTok. We couldn't find any announcement from the developer linking a token to the game, so treat them as unofficial.

Game money stays in the game

In-game naira can't be withdrawn, so anyone selling it for real cash is selling air. In the first week an exploit let some players print hacked funds — cue instant trillionaires and ₦10B “campaign giveaways” — and the developer reset the exploited money. If a balance looks too good to be true, it will be corrected.

It's 18+

You chat with real strangers, so the usual internet rules apply: keep personal details out of chat.

How big is Lagos Life?

Very big, very fast. Within days of launch, the Lagos Life game was posting numbers most indie games never see, according to the developer and the Nigerian tech press:

  1. 1 Oct 2026

    Official terms of service dated

  2. First days

Passes 100,000 users with 11,000+ players online at once

  3. 4 Oct 2026

1.8M+ all-time visits and 10,000+ online, per the public stats page

  4. 4 Oct 2026

50,266 players online at once, 399,187 total players, 813,166 visits in a day

  5. Reported 5 Oct 2026

Reported peak of 109,000 online, 1M+ players, 7.2M all-time visits

Expect the servers to wobble at peak times. That's the price of half the country logging in at once.

What's coming next

The developer has announced more cities, joined to Lagos by an in-game airport. There are no release dates yet; we'll update this page when there are.

  • Airport

Fly between virtual cities from inside Lagos Life.

  • AbujaLife

A second city set in Abuja, announced as in development.

  • PHLife

A Port Harcourt city, announced as in development.
