Lagos Life Jobs & Salaries

Weekly = level-5 pay × shifts per week. Hourly = level-5 pay ÷ shift length. Tags show careers that need a skill level before you can apply.

Best job for…

“Best” depends on what you're short of: money now, money later, or free hours for side hustles. Here's our pick for each situation.

Most money per week

Real Estate (₦528,000), then Broadcasting and Music. Weekly totals reward careers that run six shifts a week, so they also cost you the most hours.

Most money per hour

DJ at about ₦18,600 an hour at level 5. If your time is better spent on a business or gigs, this is the number to care about.

Strong start with no skill needed

Banking pays ₦11,600 a shift at level 1, the most of any career you can walk into. Next best: Tech (₦9,900) and Nursing (₦9,100).

Free time for gigs

DJ runs four 5-hour night shifts, Thursday to Sunday. That's 20 hours a week, leaving daytime for Balogun runs, open mics or keeping an eye on a business.

LAPO Babies and UNILAG freshers

You learn skills 25% faster, so the steepest climbers below are your friends. Pick a career whose skill you'll train anyway, take Banking for cash in the meantime if it fits, and switch once your skill is ready.

Nepo Babies

You already start as a Branch Manager on ₦31,500 a shift, more than any level-1 job on this page. Use that cushion to train towards a level-5 career instead of coasting; even the bottom of the table pays more at the top.

How much a promotion is worth

Level-1 pay is a terrible guide to a career. The jobs that start lowest often climb the furthest, while the mid-level careers that pay well on day one grow the least. This chart shows how many times level-5 pay is bigger than level-1 pay, per shift:

Content Creator and Music multiply your pay more than thirteenfold. The green bars are the 6 gated careers: they start near ₦17,000–₦21,000 a shift but grow only four to five times. If you're patient, a low starting wage in a creative career isn't a trap; it's an investment.

How promotions work

Every career is tied to one skill, and each level needs a higher skill level. Two ladders exist:

Standard careers

Apply with no skill needed, then reach skill levels 1 → 3 → 5 → 7 to climb from level 2 to level 5. Most of the 21 careers work this way.

Mid-level careers

Aviation, Product Management, Medicine, Real Estate, Broadcasting, Civil Service need skill 3 just to apply, then 4 → 5 → 7 → 9. They pay well from day one but need the most training to max out.

Pay boosts on top

• Employee of the shift: win 4 tasks in a shift for +15% pay. Never leave a shift early; that cuts your pay.
• Minimum wage policy: when the elected governor chooses it, everyone earns 15% more per shift for the week.
• UNILAG degree: graduates earn 25% more per shift for good.

Jobs by skill

Because promotions run on skills, it pays to choose a career that shares a skill with another one. Train Charisma and eight careers open up; train Fitness and you can move between the hospital, the airline and the gym.

Hours: what each job costs you in time

Shifts range from 5 to 10 hours, and careers run four to six shifts a week. That adds up to anywhere from 20 to 54 hours a week. The lightest schedules:

• DJ: 4 × 5-hour shifts = 20 hours a week, ₦372,000 at level 5.
• Football: 4 × 6-hour shifts = 24 hours a week, ₦288,000 at level 5.
• Music: 5 × 6-hour shifts = 30 hours a week, ₦495,000 at level 5.
• Content Creator: 5 × 6-hour shifts = 30 hours a week, ₦450,000 at level 5.

At the other end, Medicine asks for 10-hour shifts and Retail, Trading and Hairstyling each run 54 hours a week. Long shifts drain your needs too, so budget for food and sleep.

Where the jobs are

Every career works out of one place on the map. A few buildings host two careers, which is handy if you ever want to switch:

• CcHub (Yaba): Product Management and Tech
• General Hospital (Ikeja): Medicine and Nursing
• Marina Towers (Victoria Island): Civil Service and Banking

Hours, prices and activities for every workplace are on the Lagos Life map.

Jobs added in the 1 October update

The career list has grown since launch. The developer's 1 October update added eight jobs in one go:

• Chef at Amala Shitta
• DJ at Quilox
• Fitness Coach
• Content Creator
• Teacher
• Event Planner
• Football Pundit
• Retail at The Palms

The same update introduced a choice between a 9–5 and a night shift. More careers may arrive as the game grows, and we'll update this table when they do.

Five job mistakes to avoid

• Choosing by level-1 pay alone. Look at the climb, not the first payslip.
• Training a skill your job doesn't use. Fun, but it won't get you promoted.
• Leaving shifts early. Half a shift isn't half the pay; it's less.
• Ignoring hours. A 54-hour week leaves little time for gigs that might pay more.
• Working on empty. Low needs drag your mood and your work down, so eat and sleep before a long shift.
