The money ladder
Nobody in Lagos Life gets rich from one thing. Almost every rich player climbs the same ladder, one rung at a time, and only moves up once the rung below is paying for itself.
- Your job is the base. Level 5 pays many times level 1, so train your skill. Compare jobs.
- Gigs pay instantly and fill the gaps between shifts.
- Your first business: a POS Stand is the classic first buy.
- Bigger businesses pay every evening at 6 PM, but can lose money on a bad day.
- Land grows in value weekly and is the end-game way to store wealth.
Your first ₦500,000: a realistic plan
Here's the slow-but-sure route for the hardest start, a LAPO Baby in Mushin who takes a Banking job on day one and never gets promoted. It's deliberately pessimistic: ₦11,600 a shift, five shifts a week, rent, the loan, and about ₦500 a day on food.
| Week | Pay | Rent, loan & food | Saved so far |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ₦58,000 | −₦17,900 | ₦116,100 |
| 2 | ₦58,000 | −₦17,900 | ₦156,200 |
| 3 | ₦58,000 | −₦17,900 | ₦196,300 |
| 4 | ₦58,000 | −₦17,900 | ₦236,400 |
| 5 | ₦58,000 | −₦17,900 | ₦276,500 |
| 6 | ₦58,000 | −₦17,900 | ₦316,600 |
| 7 | ₦58,000 | −₦5,900 | ₦368,700 |
| 8 | ₦58,000 | −₦5,900 | ₦420,800 |
| 9 | ₦58,000 | −₦5,900 | ₦472,900 |
| 10 | ₦58,000 | −₦5,900 | ₦525,000 |
Starting from the ₦76,000 a Mushin LAPO Baby begins with, that's a POS Stand by around week 10. The loan finishing after week 6 is a big boost. Every promotion, side gig and “Employee of the shift” bonus pulls that date closer, and a Nepo Baby can buy one on day one. Fun costs push it back, which is why Quilox is a reward, not a routine.
Side gigs
Gigs pay straight away, so they're the quickest money in the game. No-skill gigs work out to roughly ₦950 an hour; skilled ones grow every time your skill levels up.
| Gig | Where | Needs | Pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Help at the Buka | Amala Shitta | None | ₦1,750 flat |
| Carry Load (Alabaru) | Balogun Market | None | ₦2,250 flat |
| WhatsApp Hustle | Anywhere / home | None | ₦250 + ₦450 × Hustle |
| Run an Instagram Shop | Anywhere / home | Laptop desk at home | ₦400 + ₦700 × Hustle |
| Buy & Resell Goods | Balogun Market | ₦800 of stock | ≈₦2,500 + ₦900 × Hustle |
| Open Mic | New Afrika Shrine | Music 2 | ₦1,000 + ₦1,100 × Music |
| Comedy Night | Freedom Park | Comedy 3 | ₦1,500 + ₦1,250 × Comedy |
| Paid Beach Photoshoot | Elegushi Beach | Photography 4 | ₦3,750 + ₦1,750 × Photography |
| Dance Battle | Quilox | Dance 3, ₦500 entry | ₦750 + ₦1,125 × Dance |
| Piano Recital | Anywhere / home | Music 5 and a grand piano | ₦7,500 + ₦6,000 × Music |
No-skill gigs: your day-one cash
Carry Load (Alabaru) at Balogun Market and Help at the Buka at Amala Shitta pay a flat rate with no requirements. They won't make you rich, but they're the difference between making Saturday rent and meeting Baba Landlord.
Skilled gigs grow with you
Formulas like “₦1,000 + ₦1,100 × Music” mean pay rises with your skill level. What that looks like in practice:
| Gig | Skill | At level 3 | At level 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp Hustle | Hustle | ₦1,600 | ₦2,500 |
| Run an Instagram Shop | Hustle | ₦2,500 | ₦3,900 |
| Buy & Resell Goods | Hustle | ₦5,200 | ₦7,000 |
| Open Mic | Music | ₦4,300 | ₦6,500 |
| Comedy Night | Comedy | ₦5,250 | ₦7,750 |
| Paid Beach Photoshoot | Photography | ₦9,000 | ₦12,500 |
| Dance Battle | Dance | ₦4,125 | ₦6,375 |
| Piano Recital | Music | ₦25,500 | ₦37,500 |
Some gigs have extra costs or gates: the Dance Battle has a ₦500 entry, Buy & Resell needs ₦800 of stock, and the Piano Recital needs Music 5 plus a grand piano at home. At level 5, though, that recital is the best gig in the game by a distance.
Rest periods
After a gig you need a short rest before doing it again, about 20 in-game minutes for most gigs and longer after one that paid ₦25,000 or more. Rotate between gigs at the same place to waste less time.
Businesses
Each business pays out every evening at 6 PM after running costs. On a bad day it loses money instead. If you sell, you get back 60% of what you paid. We work out expected profit including bad days, so our payback times are a little longer than the best case.
| Business | Cost | Good day | Bad day | Expected / day | Payback |

| Barbing Salon | ₦6,000,000 | ₦26,000 – ₦93,000 | 8%: −₦42,500 | ₦51,340 | ≈117 days |

| Mack Haulage Trailer | ₦18,000,000 | ₦87,000 – ₦179,000 | 8%: −₦95,000 | ₦114,760 | ≈157 days |
| Event Centre | ₦60,000,000 | ₦155,000 – ₦741,000 | 10%: −₦320,000 | ₦371,200 | ≈162 days |
| Quilox Share (5%) | ₦250,000,000 | ₦645,000 – ₦2,435,000 | 8%: −₦1,100,000 | ₦1,328,800 | ≈189 days |
Expected/day assumes good-day income is spread evenly between the low and high figure. You can own up to 3 Mack trailers.

Best first business
The POS Stand. At ₦500,000 it's affordable after a few weeks of work, it pays back in about 97 days, and in Lagos a POS stand on the corner is practically a law of nature. If you're impatient, the Recharge & Data Kiosk at ₦150,000 gets you on the ladder sooner.
When to move up
Buy the next business with profit, not with rent money. A good rule: only buy when you could survive a week of bad days on every business you own and still pay Saturday rent. Bigger businesses earn far more per day but take longer to pay back, so they're for money you won't need soon.
Think twice before selling
Selling returns 60%, so a ₦500,000 POS Stand sells for ₦300,000. Keep small businesses running while you add bigger ones rather than trading up.
Land
Land compounds every week, so it's where rich players park money they don't need. When you buy, omo-onile may turn up demanding “foundation money” of 10% of the price. Selling costs 5%.
The cheapest plots grow slowly and attract omo-onile most often. Ibeju-Lekki is the sweet spot: the fastest growth in the game at 5% a week, with a one-in-five omo-onile chance. Banana Island never gets a visit from them, but grows slowly and costs ₦150M.

| Area | Price | Growth / week | Value after 10 weeks | Omo-onile risk | Expected profit, 10 weeks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Imota, Ikorodu | ₦250,000 | 2.5% | ₦320,021 | 40% | ₦44,020 |
| Ikorodu (half plot) | ₦1,500,000 | 2.5% | ₦1,920,127 | 35% | ₦271,620 |
| Epe (full plot) | ₦2,500,000 | 3.75% | ₦3,612,610 | 30% | ₦856,979 |
| Ibeju-Lekki | ₦4,000,000 | 5% | ₦6,515,579 | 20% | ₦2,109,800 |
| Lekki Phase 2 | ₦15,000,000 | 3.13% | ₦20,404,731 | 5% | ₦4,309,494 |
| Banana Island | ₦150,000,000 | 1.88% | ₦180,620,681 | None | ₦21,589,647 |
Expected profit = value after 10 weeks, minus the 5% selling fee, the price you paid and the average omo-onile cost (risk × 10% of the price).
Land or business?
Businesses win on speed: a POS Stand returns its whole price in a few months. Land wins on safety: no bad days, and it keeps growing while you sleep. Most players buy businesses first and move into land once they have more money than they can sensibly spend.
Other ways to earn
The daily gem hunt
Solve the day's clue and find the hidden gem for a cash prize. It's free, quick and the closest thing to a bonus the game offers.
Become governor
Win the weekly election at Polling Unit 001 for ₦25,000 a day that week. It costs ₦50,000 to run, so a win nets about ₦125,000, and a loss is a ₦50,000 lesson in Lagos politics.
Gifts from friends
Players can send each other money for a 5% fee (minimum ₦50). Nice when a friend helps with rent; useless when a stranger promises to “double” it.
Money traps to avoid
- Eko Casino. Open 24 hours, and the odds are not your friend. Entertainment, not income.
- Crime. Risky ⚠️ activities can end at Eko Police Division with bail or fines.
- Buying naira from strangers. It's either a scam or exploited money, and exploited money gets reset.
- “Codes”. There are no Lagos Life codes. Anyone selling them is selling air.
FAQ
What is the fastest way to make money in Lagos Life?
Work every shift of your job, fill free hours with gigs, and buy a POS Stand once you can spare ₦500,000. Then reinvest business income into bigger businesses.
What is the best business in Lagos Life?
Small businesses pay back fastest. The Recharge Kiosk, Zobo Stand and POS Stand all earn back their cost in roughly three months, while big ones like the Event Centre and Quilox share take longer but earn far more per day.
Is land worth buying in Lagos Life?
Land grows in value every week. Ibeju-Lekki grows fastest (5% a week). Cheaper plots risk omo-onile asking for 10% of the price, and selling costs 5%.
Can I make money with no skills?
Yes. Carry Load at Balogun Market and Help at the Buka at Amala Shitta need no skill and pay right away.
Is it worth running for governor to make money?
Only if you can win. It costs ₦50,000 to run and the winner earns ₦25,000 a day for a week, so a win nets about ₦125,000. A loss is ₦50,000 gone.
Can I cash out Lagos Life money?
No. In-game naira has no real-world value and can't be withdrawn or sold outside the game.
