Mako is a waterside lounge in Ikoyi: house music, wood-fired pizza, a jetty where boats tie up, and a members' lounge for networking. It opens mid-afternoon and runs past 3 AM, and it's where the Island's smart crowd warms up before heading to the clubs. In Lagos Life it is also a members-only venue. You can't walk in on a whim: you join at the door for a week at a time, and only members get through.

That membership changes how you should think about the place. Once you're in, half of Mako's activities are free, and they're very good. The house DJ gives the biggest free fun boost of any place in Lagos, without the energy cost of dancing, and the members' lounge fills social as well as almost anything free in the city while training Charisma. The paid items add long mood bonuses. The question is never whether a single visit is worth it; it's whether you'll come often enough in a week to justify the fee.

There are no jobs or gigs at Mako. It's a lifestyle purchase, and this guide is about whether it fits yours.

Opening hours

Daily
Open (2 PM – 3 AM)In-game time.

Mako opens at 2 PM and closes at 3 AM, every day, which makes it unusually flexible for a lounge. It fits a free afternoon, an evening after work, or the early part of a night before you move on to Quilox or The Library on Victoria Island, which both open at 10 PM. That's what the Pregame is for: its mood bonus lasts for hours, long enough to carry you into the club. Membership runs for seven days from the moment you join, and buying another week adds it on top, so join at the start of a week you know will be busy, not on a night you'll only stay an hour. You pay the fee up front from your wallet, so don't join on a Friday if Saturday's 9 AM rent will leave you short.

Doors open at 2 PM and close at 3 AM in game time, every day of the week. Rent comes out every Saturday at 9 AM, wherever you are.

Time is in-game time. “Effect per go” is how far one go moves each need bar (out of 100): the game adds any one-off boost, such as a meal's hunger, to the activity's hourly rate times its length. The cheapest paid activity is Signature Cocktail at the Bar at ₦9,000, and 3 activities are free. Prices are for ordinary players: once your net worth passes ₦1B, the game multiplies most of them by 10.

Mako's three free activities are the reason to become a member. Vibe to the House DJ gives a huge fun boost and a good chunk of social in under an hour, with no energy drain; it's the biggest free fun activity on the map, though it trains Dance only slowly. Network in the Members' Lounge fills social as well as almost any free activity in Lagos and trains Charisma at the best rate in Ikoyi. Sunset on the Jetty is a shorter fun top-up. The paid side is smaller. The Pregame with the Crew is the best of it: a big social and fun boost and the strongest mood bonus on the menu. The Wood-Fired Pizza is the only real meal and fills most of your hunger, and the Signature Cocktail is a modest social top-up. Both give the same 'members only' mood bonus, so ordering both only refreshes it.

Mako tips: what actually works

Only join for a busy week

The weekly membership costs about as much as, or more than, a full week's pay in many mid-level careers. Spread over a visit every day, that's a reasonable price for unlimited free DJ sets and networking. Spread over one visit, it's one of the most expensive nights out in Lagos. Join when you'll come four or more times that week; otherwise stick to The Library, where the dance floor is free without a membership.

Lean on the free activities

Once you're a member, the house DJ, the jetty and the lounge cost nothing. A visit of just those three fills fun and social to the brim, trains a little Charisma and Dance, and costs no energy beyond the trip. Pay for extras only when you need a meal or a mood bonus.

Pregame before a club night

The Pregame gives a big social and fun boost and a mood bonus that lasts for hours. Do it at Mako, then head to the Island when the clubs open. You'll arrive in a great mood and with social already high, so you can spend the club night dancing or networking instead of buying bottles.

Don't order the pizza and the cocktail for the mood

Both give the same 'members only' mood bonus, and repeating a bonus only refreshes it. Order the pizza when you're hungry, the cocktail when you're not, and the Pregame when you want a second, different bonus that stacks with it.

Use the lounge for Charisma

Networking in the members' lounge trains Charisma faster than any other activity in Ikoyi, and fills social as well. It's still slower than the free Spoken Word at Freedom Park, so it's a bonus for members rather than a reason to join. Real Estate agents, who can't get back into the golf club after their shifts until they're worth ₦1 billion, can use the lounge as their Ikoyi networking spot in the evenings, if they're members.

Rich players pay more

Once your net worth passes ₦1 billion, prices across the game go up tenfold for you, and that includes the membership. If you're near that line, renew before you cross it, or decide whether Mako is still worth it at the higher price.

What a visit costs

There's no such thing as a cheap first visit to Mako, because the membership comes first. After that, a member's visit can be completely free: DJ, jetty, lounge, go home. A typical evening adds a pizza or a cocktail. A big night is a Pregame with the crew followed by a club on Victoria Island, still far cheaper than a VIP table at Quilox. The real budget question is the weekly fee. On starter pay it's out of reach, and even a solid mid-level salary should cover rent, savings and a business before a lounge membership. For players earning near the top of their career, or who already own businesses, a week at Mako is a reasonable luxury, especially in a week full of free evenings. Don't renew automatically; renew when the week ahead justifies it.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Joining for a single visit. The membership only makes sense if you come several times that week.
  • Joining with the rent money. Rent comes out at 9 AM on Saturday, whatever you've spent on the week.
  • Paying for both the pizza and the cocktail for the mood bonus. They share the same bonus.
  • Ignoring the free activities. The house DJ and the lounge are the best things at Mako, and members get them free.
  • Coming here to train Dance. The house DJ trains it slowly; party speakers at home are far faster.

Is Mako worth it?

Mako is for players with money and free evenings: a week's membership turns it into the best free fun and social spot in Ikoyi, with long mood bonuses on top for those who pay for extras. It suits high earners, business owners and anyone planning a run of club nights. Starter and early mid-game players should skip it and use The Library, where the dance floor is free and there's no membership. If you're already in Ikoyi to train at i-Fitness, a member can wind down here after a session.
